Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has resumed the sale of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in Naira across the country, following the intervention of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee chairman.

In a message sent to its customers on Saturday, the refinery stated: “Following the intervention of the Naira for Crude Technical Committee chairman, we are pleased to inform you of the resumption of PMS Sales in Naira commencing immediately.”
The resumption reinstates local currency transactions that were temporarily suspended, allowing customers of the refinery to place immediate orders. Dangote’s Group Commercial Operations added that orders could now be fulfilled either through self-collection or free delivery nationwide.
The development comes as regulatory and industry authorities intensify efforts to stabilize PMS distribution and promote Naira-based transactions to ensure smoother operations for suppliers and consumers alike.
In October 2024, the Federal Government introduced the Naira-for-Crude initiative, which required local refineries, including the Dangote Refinery, to receive crude oil supplies in the local currency. However, implementation has been uneven, with refineries struggling to secure sufficient volumes in Naira while Nigerians grappled with rising pump prices.
Earlier in 2025, industry reports indicated that Dangote Refinery was refining far less crude in Naira than originally planned. While the Federal Government had pledged to allocate 450,000 barrels per day to local refineries in the local currency of which Dangote was expected to receive 385,000 barrels daily actual allocations were significantly lower.
