At least, 18 communities in Edo, and Oyo states are currently experiencing power outage caused by technical glitches.

This is also as the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company announced that there would be power interruption in Bayelsa due to the need to change a faulty circuit breaker.

The Benin Electricity Distribution Company Plc on Friday told its customers in 11 communities that the outage being experienced was occasioned by damage to critical power infrastructure servicing the affected areas.

The management of the BEDC, in a statement said the technical team was working to repair the damage and restore power supply.

“This is to inform our valued customers at Upper Lawani, Costain, Universal, New Benin, Okhoro, Owoseni, Akugbe, Mission road, Uteh community, Edokpolor, Eweka and environs, that the outage currently being experienced is as a result of damage to critical power infrastructure servicing these areas.

“Our technical team is working assiduously to repair the damage and restore supply to the affected areas.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused even as we solicit your patience and understanding,” the statement read.

Also, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company sent a notice to its customers in seven communities of Oyo: “Kindly note that due to technical fault on the Lalupon 33kV feeder, the following communities: Iyana Church, Oki, Wakajaye, Olootu, Wound, Maku, Jinarere and environs are experiencing power outage.

“Our technical team is working to ensure speedy restoration of power supply. We apologise for the inconvenience.”

In the same vein, the PHED informed that “there is an outage at the Yenagoa 132KV Transmission Station to replace a faulty circuit breaker”.

The DisCo added that “our customers in Bayelsa will be out of supply during the duration of the maintenance.

“We assure customers within these areas that supply will be restored as soon as work is completed. All inconveniences are regretted”.

Recall that Nigerians have been grappling with low power supply caused by the refusal of gas companies to supply gas to power-generating companies due to debt.

Despite promises by the Federal Government that the issue would be resolved, normalcy has yet to be restored in the power sector since two months ago.
