The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President, Mazi Afam Osigwe SAN, has congratulated the 1,097 new wigs called to bar, urging them to uphold legal ethics and integrity.

Speaking at the call to bar ceremony in Abuja, Osigwe reminded the new lawyers that the legal profession is centered around service to clients and society. He encouraged them to adhere to professional conduct rules, respect seniors, dress properly, and harness social media positively.

Earlier, the Body of Benchers Chairman, Justice Mary Odili, had charged the new wigs to provide life-changing legal service, seek counsel from experienced colleagues when in doubt, and constantly enrich themselves with legal knowledge.

The Nigerian Law School Director-General, Prof Isa Chiroma SAN, noted the institution now has seven campuses nationwide with over 7,000 students yearly. He assured commitment to upholding professional standards.

Osigwe further urged the new lawyers to push past limits and comfort zones in order to achieve their dreams. He stated that success requires undertaking tasks that initially seem impossible.

The NBA President welcomed the new wigs to the Nigerian legal profession and wished them rewarding careers. The call to bar ceremony marks their formal entry into the profession after completing academic and vocational training.
