In a recent video clip shared on her Instagram account, Ifunaya, popularly known as “The Baddest Lawyer,” has taken to social media to address the prevalence of fake accounts attributed to her name and to clarify misconceptions about her professional identity.

“If I keep quiet, it’s going to be like an admission of guilt, so it’s good for me to come out and actually clear my name,” Ifunaya stated in the video.

First and foremost, Ifunaya emphasized that due to her popularity on social media, numerous fake accounts have emerged under her name. She demonstrated this by searching her name on Instagram and revealing the substantial number of fake accounts using her name and likeness.

“I can count up to 12345 like they are over 20,” she remarked, pointing out the abundance of impostor accounts on various platforms.

She highlighted the prevalence of fake pages not only on Instagram but also on Twitter, where she mentioned encountering an even larger number of fraudulent accounts. Ifunaya expressed her frustration with social media platforms’ verification process, noting that it has become less stringent since the introduction of a payment-based verification system. She lamented that platforms no longer require proper identification before verifying accounts, leading to the rise of fake profiles.

Furthermore, Ifunaya clarified her professional background, asserting that she is not a practicing lawyer despite her online persona. “I am a lawyer by book,” she explained. She emphasized that her current focus is on modeling, acting, and pursuing a career in music, specifically as an upcoming rapper. Ifunaya emphasized that her social media presence is primarily for entertainment purposes and not a reflection of her legal career.

“I’m not practicing law. I don’t have the intention to practice law for now, so right now my focus is on the entertainment basis,” she stated. Ifunaya mentioned that she had been a model and actress before pursuing a legal career. She emphasized that her online activities are an expression of her role as a model, actress, and upcoming musician.

In conclusion, Ifunaya underscored the fact that social media is not a reflection of real life and that appearances can be manipulated and exaggerated. She urged her followers to understand that her online presence is centered around her creative pursuits and not her legal background.

With this candid video, Ifunaya aims to address misconceptions and set the record straight about her identity, intentions, and the numerous fake accounts that have cropped up in her name across various social media platforms.

Recall that Ifunanya Excel Grant, who was admitted to the Bar in 2021, garnered widespread attention due to her controversial online posts, which included sharing nude photographs and videos of herself engaging in the consumption of marijuana .On that note, it’s worth mentioning that The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) filed a petition before the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee over allegations of misconduct against the young lawyer and online sensation.

The NBA had taken this action following hordes of complaints against Ifunanya, accusing her of sharing pictures and videos of herself unclad and smoking marijuana on social media.

The NBA spokesperson, Akorede Lawal, in a statement on Saturday, August 19, 2023, had stated that the decision had been reached by the National Executive Committee of the NBA after its monthly meeting, which had been presided over by the president, Yakubu Maikyau.
