Former Aviation Minister Osita Chidoka has revealed that Lloyd Ekweremadu went ahead with his high-profile wedding with his jailed parents’ consent.

In a Facebook post, Chidoka disclosed that ex-Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice, currently imprisoned in the UK, wanted their son to proceed with marriage plans to “move on and give them grandchildren.”

This follows criticism by APC’s Joe Igbokwe who questioned the lavish wedding while the Ekweremadus remained incarcerated over organ trafficking convictions.

According to Chidoka, the wedding was originally meant to take place before the arrests. He said the scaled-down event drew support from the Ekweremadus’ friends and colleagues, attended in solidarity.

The ex-minister lauded Lloyd for rising courageously to the difficult situation, caring for his siblings and keeping the family strong. He praised the noble stance of the bride’s family as well.

Chidoka reiterated that despite their predicament, the senior Ekweremadus encouraged their son to advance with long-held marriage plans, wanting laughter and pride restored to their home.

The revelation demonstrates the Ekweremadu family’s resilience and highlights how Lloyd honored his imprisoned parents’ wishes in proceeding with the controversial wedding.
