Stephanie Ekpebulu has faulted her suspension as a member of International Federation of Women Lawyers, Nigeria. She was suspended alongside two other officers of Rivers Branch – Publicity Secretary, Amb. Esther Mabadeje and Branch Secretary Pastor Ngozi Odukwe Ighosevbe.

Ekpebulu, in a petition sighted by TheNigeriaLawyer, said the suspension is unlawful and contrary to the provisions of the Constitution of the Group and Bye Laws of the Rivers Branch

She denied being behind the publication of displeasure made by the Nation Newspaper over the nomination of male as the Chief Judge instead of a female who was the next most senior judge.

According to her, even if she actually sent the publication to the Nation Newspaper, their (she and the two other officers) wouldn’t have still been justifiable.

TheNigerialawyer(TNL), reports that the National Executive Council of the International Federation of Women Lawyers(FIDA), Nigeria, suspended Ms Stephanie Ekpebulu as its member on the ground of gross misconduct capable of putting the Association in dispute.

Stephanie was suspended indefinitely through FIDA Rivers State chapter following a resolution reached after the NEC meeting held on the 28th May, 2021 at Awka, Anambra State.

According to the letter signed by the National President, Rhoda Prevail Tyoden and The National Secretary, Evelyn Membere- Asimiea, dated 30th May, Stephanie Ekpebulu, is also banned from participating in all FIDA activities and related FIDA affairs.

She will remain suspended until she shows sincere remorse for her poor actions a d indicate readiness in write to comply with the proof of FIDA Nigeria Constitution and FIDA Nigeria Branch Uniform Bylaws

TheNigerialawyer further gathered that the Suspension will take effect from 30th May, 2021.
