-No option for fine, he ruled

An Abuja Magistrate court sitting at Wuse zone 6, Abuja, has ordered for the arrest and remand of lawyer, Eburu Ekwe Barth, for interjecting when the Magistrate was delivering a ruling on an application by the opposing Lawyer.

His Worship, Ibrahim Mohammed, sentenced Mr Eburu Ekwe to 2 months imprisonment for contempt in the face of the court.

The magistrate thereafter instructed the policemen within the court premises to make the arrest and according to the report he was handcuffed and taken out of the courtroom.

It was also reported that the reason for the interruption by the lawyer while the magistrate was giving his ruling was because of His Worship, Ibrahim Mohammed ascribe what he never said to him in his ruling.

He also queried if there was a conspiracy between opposing counsel and the magistrate.
