On the eve of the much anticipated 2020 NBA Elections, Mr. John Aikpokpo-Martins has been endorsed from three Branches of the NBA to wit: Warri, Effurun and Udu by group by name “Friends & Paddies”.

Their endorsement is contained in a statement signed by them which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

“We have watched the giant strides taken by John Aikpokpo-Martins for almost a decade now.

“Over the years, he has consistently shown that the welfare of members of the Bar is his paramount concern.” They said.

Furthermore, they noted that he has shown exemplary leadership as a previous NBA Branch Chairman through protecting the welfare of Lawyers.

“We note that as a past chairman, he sponsored a Bill for a Law to protect the due percentage due to Legal Practitioners for land documentation which said bill has been duly passed and awaiting assent by the Governor of Delta State.”

Furthermore, it was noted that he has taken bold steps even if same is against Government.

“He has boldly taken action even when it was against the government of the day on several occasions in a bid to fight for the betterment of lawyers. His mantra over the years has always been ‘an injury to one lawyer is an injury to all’. “ They said.

Commenting on his generousity to young Lawyers, they said:

“During his tenure and in keeping with his lifelong spirit of generosity to younger ones, he always ensured that every committee in the Bar had at least 2 young lawyers as members.

“He equally improved the welfare package for young lawyers getting married.”

Thus, they noted that he is “eminently qualified”.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that Mr. Aikpokpo-Martins is eminently qualified and is easily the most suitable candidate for the office of 1st Vice president of the NBA.” The said.

“We therefore have no hesitation whatsoever in endorsing him and we do hereby urge all lawyers to support him in his quest.” They concluded.
