A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Sagamu, Ogun State, has remanded 29 persons at the Isale Oko Correctional Centre pending the perfection of bail conditions granted to them.

The suspects were arraigned by the Ogun State Police Command following their arrest during a special operation codenamed “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe.”

Police said the 29 suspects were selected after a screening exercise involving 146 persons initially arrested during the raid.

According to the charge sheet, the defendants were arraigned on a five-count charge bordering on malicious damage, stealing, and assault, offences punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006, and other relevant laws.

The suspects, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The presiding magistrate, O.S. Somefun, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million, with conditions, but ordered their remand pending the perfection of the bail.

In a statement on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi said the suspects were charged to court on April 15, 2026.

“Further to the earlier report on ‘Operation Keep Sagamu Safe’ dated April 13, 2026, the Ogun State Police Command informs the public that out of 146 suspects arrested, 29 were found culpable after thorough screening and have been charged to court,” the statement read.

She added that the court had ordered their remand in correctional custody, while the case was adjourned till May 12, 2026.

Odutola noted that the development underscored the command’s commitment to transparency and due process.

She assured residents that Sagamu remained calm and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
