Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved an upward review of the monthly stipend for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state, raising it from ₦20,000 to ₦30,000.
The announcement was made on Friday during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2025 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Damare, Girei Local Government Area.
Dressed in full NYSC regalia, Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to youth empowerment and the welfare of corps members posted to the state. He said the increase reflects the government’s continuous effort to improve the service experience in Adamawa.
“As a government, we are committed to improving the welfare of corps members,” he said. “This increment aligns with our promise to create a friendly and supportive atmosphere for you.”
The governor also revealed that plans are in advanced stages to construct a brand-new NYSC camp in the state. He directed the State NYSC Coordinator to engage corps members with backgrounds in architecture, civil engineering, and quantity surveying to participate in the supervision of the project.
Congratulating the new corps members on completing their academic programmes, Fintiri welcomed them to Adamawa State, assuring them of hospitality and strong government support. He described the youth as vital partners in driving government initiatives, especially in education.
“As bona fide citizens of Adamawa during your service year, you are expected to uphold discipline, engage in community development, and cultivate healthy interactions,” he added.
The governor emphasized the importance of the orientation programme, describing it as critical for preparing corps members both mentally and physically for national service.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Youths and Chairman of the NYSC Governing Board in the state, Barrister Wali Yakubu, urged the corps members to embrace the orientation course with seriousness and take advantage of the skill acquisition sessions to promote self-reliance after service.
The State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Caroline Osoro, commended the corps members for their discipline since arrival and thanked Governor Fintiri for the allowance increment and his continued commitment to their welfare. She described the governor as a “visionary leader and a beacon of youth empowerment.”
The event featured the administration of the oath of allegiance by the Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Hapsat Abdurrahman, and a presentation of the NYSC journal to the governor.
