Y. C  Maikyau, SAN, Sends Goodwill Message To NBA Awka On Her Law Week , Says Theme For The Week “Introspective”

Chairman, NBA Welfare committee, Y.C. Maikyau, SAN; has sent a heart-warm felicitation message to the NBA Awka branch, as it marks it’s 2021 Law week.

The Nigerian Bar Association Awka branch on Thursday, commenced it’s legal week was fully packed with exciting activities, veteran speakers and discussants.

The Learned Silk, in his message noted that the theme of this year’s legal week is apt.

“My dear Colleagues, may I most humbly congratulate the distinguished members of NBA Awka Branch, for the successful kick-off of their law week 2021. I find the choice of this year’s law week theme: ‘Legal Profession in a Lawless Society: Rediscovering Law as a Tool for Social Change’, rather introspective and blunt.

“That we as a people comply with laws only when it is convenient is no longer news. But even more troubling is the fact that  we as lawyers- Ministers in the Temple of Justice – have become not only part of, but also willing tools in the hands of those who would pervert our laws and the course of Justice.

“It is against this absurdity that we must first introspect amongst ourselves as lawyers, on how to reverse this unfortunate trend and reposition ourselves on the path of nobility. As  the Learned men and women that we are, we must serve as guides and pace makers to the rest of the society; the torch bearers of the Rule of Law.

“It is my hope that the law week will conclude with useful resolutions that will propel us in the right direction both as Nigerians and as a body of Legal Practitioners.

“On this note, I wish all participants of this law week fruitful deliberations and a rewarding experience.
