The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Zone A, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its sustained efforts in combating corruption and financial crimes, pledging to deepen cooperation between the two agencies through intelligence sharing, capacity building and other forms of operational collaboration.

The Zonal Coordinator of NIS Zone A, Assistant Comptroller-General Mohammed Adamu, gave the commendation on Thursday, September 10, 2026, while receiving the Acting Director of the EFCC Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Adebayo Adeniyi, who led a delegation on a courtesy visit to the NIS Zonal Headquarters in Lagos.
Adamu said the EFCC had contributed significantly to improving Nigeria’s image locally and internationally through its anti-corruption activities and successful prosecution of economic and financial crimes.
Describing the Commission as one of Nigeria’s most hardworking and prestigious law-enforcement agencies, he said its convictions had served as a deterrent to potential offenders.
“I am highly delighted to receive you and your entourage from the EFCC, one of the most prestigious and hardworking agencies in Nigeria. Thank you for a job well done. The EFCC has recorded significant achievements and secured convictions. These convictions serve as a deterrent to potential offenders, and Nigerians are proud of your work,” Adamu said.
He assured the visiting delegation that the NIS remained ready to strengthen its partnership with the Commission, particularly through increased intelligence sharing and cooperation in tackling economic and financial crimes.
“I will communicate this visit to the Headquarters so that they are aware of the strong working relationship we have with the EFCC,” he added.
The NIS Zonal Coordinator also requested training opportunities for immigration officers, saying capacity-building programmes facilitated through the partnership would help improve the effectiveness and professionalism of personnel in the discharge of their responsibilities.
Responding, Adeniyi expressed appreciation for what he described as the long-standing cooperation between the EFCC and the NIS and called for the relationship to be sustained and strengthened.
“We appreciate your office for the cooperation we have enjoyed over the years. We are here to express our gratitude and to sustain the existing relationship,” he said.
Adeniyi further assured the NIS that the EFCC remained committed to due process in the discharge of its mandate and was open to addressing any operational concerns arising from engagements between the two agencies.
“If there are any issues regarding our operations, please let us know. The Commission is committed to ensuring that everything is handled in line with due process. We look forward to continued cooperation,” he added.
