*Insists He Has Right To Appear Before Court In Religious Attire Based On Supreme Court Judgement

A Human Right Lawyer and Activist, Chief Malcom Omirhobo, today appeared at Federal High Court, Ikoyi Lagos, in the traditional regalia of “olokun”, the sea goddess.

His appearance today comes on the heel of reactions which has continued to trail his entry into the Supreme Court last week Thursday where he caused a dramatic scene with his “olokun” attire.

According to Malcolm, his attire is in reaction to the recent judgement of the Supreme Court which approved the putting on of hijab by Muslim students in public schools. Chief Malcolm who on several platforms has argued that religious practice and their representations are private issues which should not be brought to public domain, said the import of the Hijab judgement is that other religious Faithfuls have the liberty to put on their religious togas in public, as any attempt to prevent them will amount to an infringement of a person’s fundamental rights.

In a video currently making rounds, Malcolm was seen in the premises of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi in the same ‘olokun’ regalia he wore to the Supreme Court last week.

In the video, the controversial lawyer was heard replying a man: “Who told you I can’t appear? Who told you! Wait and See?” in an apparent response to a man who seemed to question his attire in the court premise.

In another picture, he was seen sited inside the courtroom with other lawyers beside me and his case file on the desk.
