On Monday, social media influencer Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, issued an unreserved apology to human rights lawyer Femi Falana, SAN, regarding recent derogatory innuendos made against the senior lawyer.

Appearing before the Nigerian House of Representatives, VeryDarkMan stated that he did not believe Falana was involved in the alleged bribery scandal involving cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Apparently now, some people are taking the advantage of what is going to target Femi Falana,” VeryDarkMan said. “Here I apologise, it’s so sad that his name was inside that audio, I couldn’t believe as well; that is the part that irritated me more which I said I refuse to believe that he is a party to something like that.”

VeryDarkMan had previously called for a thorough investigation into the matter, claiming he had no intention of defaming Falana. He also mentioned receiving further information about the alleged involvement of Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) officials.

In a letter dated September 25, 2024, Falana’s legal team at Falana & Falana’s Chambers addressed an Instagram post made by VeryDarkMan, in which the influencer claimed that Falana “spoke to Bobrisky in order to divert justice” and sought a presidential pardon for Bobrisky in exchange for N10 million. The letter stated that these allegations were defamatory and accused Falana of engaging in deceitful conduct, undermining his integrity.

Falana had earlier stated that he never spoke to Bobrisky about any alleged pardon or other matters. However, VeryDarkMan maintained that he possesses further damning evidence to support his exposé regarding Bobrisky and a voice note in which the crossdresser allegedly claimed to have served his sentence in a private apartment.
