Senate President Godswill Akpabio has disclosed that allegations from suspended Kogi lawmaker, Natasha Akpoti came up because her seat and committee was changed.

Akpabio questioned why Natasha did not speak out immediately in 2023 if her allegations were true.

The Senate President recalled that the suspended lawmaker had accused other people of similar crimes in the past and none has been proven so far.

He however noted that time would decide eventually if her allegations were true or not.

Akpabio said: “It’s only yesterday I realised that what we are talking about happened only after the change of seats and committee in the senate which my Senators know happen from time to time, that is when all hell was let loose and all sort of allegations came out.

“It was said to have happened on the 8th of December 2023, a day to my birthday which was celebrated in the stadium.

“So from December 8, 2023, I never heard, my wife never heard, no Nigerian even the husband never heard until her committee was changed and her seats was changed.

“Have you ever wondered the drama caused by that same woman on the other people she had accused in the past? None has been proven so far. I’ve refrained myself from making any statements.

“Look at these beautiful women, they’ve come across me so many times, have I ever harassed any one of you? Let me just say that time will tell. If we are in court, the court will decide.”
