UNILAG Law Faculty, NIALS Hold Special Session for Ajomo

The event is designated as a “Special Board of Studies/Academic Board” in honour of the renowned jurist. The special session which is open to the public is scheduled for 11 am at the Ayo Ajomo Auditorium at NIALS, named after the former second Director-General of the institute. He was also the sixth Dean of Law of the UNILAG Faculty of Law. Prof. Ajomo was a professor of International Law and an international legal consultant. He received a bachelor of laws degree in 1964 from the University of Hull, a DIL in 1965 from University of Manchester, and a PhD in 1967. He was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1972, and was the Dean of Law, University of Lagos, between 1982 and 1984. He was the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies between 1988 and 1994; President of the Nigerian Society of International Law, and Chairman, Board of Directors of Centre for Petroleum, Environment and Development Studies. He was also a member of several organisations including the Nigerian Arbitration Association, London Court of International Arbitration, American Society of International Law, International Bar Association (IBA), Nigerian Bar Association, and Petroleum Energy and Mining Law Association of Nigeria (PEMLAN). Prof. Ajomo was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration and Chartered Institute of Bankers. He was the co-author of Law and Practice of Arbitration and Conciliation in Nigeria.]]>
