In a shocking incident that occurred at approximately 8 pm last night, Dr. Roland Ipuole, a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, and a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Calabar Branch, was kidnapped while attending a meeting along Marian Road in Calabar.

According to a colleague of Dr. Ipuole, the kidnapping was carried out by a group of armed individuals who have been terrorizing the area with robberies and other criminal activities.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and raised serious concerns about the state of security in Calabar.

A group of concerned citizens, identifying themselves as Edebia Sons and Daughters in Calabar, has issued a statement urging the State government to take swift action to secure the release of Dr. Ipuole and address the growing threat of kidnappings in the area.

The statement, signed by the group, reads in part: “We are calling on all security agencies to rise up to this challenge by ensuring that Bar Roland [Dr. Ipuole] is released unharmed.

To our dear Governor, we see the action of these kidnappers as an attempt to rubbish your good intentions for the state. Please and please, use this as a test case and show these detractors that you are fully in charge of the state. FREE BAR ROLAND UNCONDITIONALLY NOW.”

Reports indicate that another victim, Dominic Ogri, who was kidnapped alongside Dr. Ipuole, has managed to regain his freedom from the kidnappers. However, Dr. Ipuole remains in captivity, and his whereabouts are currently unknown.
