The family of the late Ulonna Inyama, former Registrar of Wigwe University, has issued a stern warning to Jude Ezeobi Esq., her former cohabitant, to cease all involvement in her burial plans.

The warning comes amidst Ezeobi’s alleged attempts to misrepresent himself as Ulonna’s husband and chief mourner, despite the nullification of their purported marriage by an Abuja High Court in 2023.

In a letter dated 20th August, 2024, the family, through its matriarch, Scholastica Inyama, expressed their deep displeasure and discomfort with Ezeobi’s actions. The letter stated, “Your conduct is not only false but also a gross misrepresentation of the true state of affairs between you and Ulonna at the time of her passing.”

Ulonna Inyama’s Family Accuses Jude Ezeobi court

The family cited the court’s judgment in Suit No. PET/144/2021, delivered by Honourable Justice A. Nasir on October 17, 2023, which nullified the union between Ezeobi and Ulonna on the grounds that Ezeobi was still legally married to one Chiamaka Marilyn Ezeobi at the time of the purported marriage. The judgment, which was attached to the letter, underscored the fact that Ezeobi had committed bigamy, a serious offense with far-reaching implications.

The family further noted that Ezeobi’s attempts to assert himself in matters relating to Ulonna’s burial were causing them considerable distress. They emphasized that Ulonna would not have wanted his involvement in her affairs, especially in such a sacred and personal matter as her burial.

The letter also addressed the baseless accusations made by Ezeobi against Ulonna during the court proceedings, which were thoroughly discountenanced by the court. The family viewed these claims as desperate attempts to deflect from the truth.

Ulonna Inyama’s Family Accuses Jude Ezeobi

In light of Ezeobi’s recent actions, the family has consulted with legal counsel and demanded that he immediately cease and desist from any further involvement in Ulonna’s burial plans or any matters concerning her. They warned that failure to comply would leave them no choice but to pursue aggressive legal action to protect the dignity of their daughter and ensure that her final rites are conducted in peace and respect.

The family’s warning comes after Ezeobi allegedly opened a WhatsApp group, claiming to be Ulonna’s husband and soliciting condolences and support for her burial. The message, signed by the “Committee of Friends,” referred to Ulonna as “the dear Wife of our founding Chairman, Jude Ezeobi ESQ” and provided Ezeobi’s mobile number for condolences.

The family has made it clear that they will not tolerate any further disturbances or misrepresentations from Ezeobi and expect him to act accordingly. They trust that he will heed their warning and maintain a civilized composure during this difficult time.
