OGBOSU-UMULOKPA COMMUNITY’S TOWN-UNION ELECTIONS 2024: A WORD OF CONGRATULATIONS AND ADVICE TO LINUS EZE, AND ALL

Our brother from Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community, Linus Eze is possessed of sterling leadership credentials, and thus, in my opinion, deserved the victory he rightfully got on 10 February 2024 in the contest for the President-General of Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community’s Town-Union Elections.

The election was keenly contested. I heartily congratulate the opponents of the winner for having fought a good, honourable fight as true leaders themselves. Now, since, as in every contest, someone has to win, I respectfully encourage them to please accept the outcome of the election in the spirit of sportsmanship, and accordingly to join hands with the winner by affording him their maximum support and cooperation towards making Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community better, brighter and bigger in success.

Dear Mr. Linus Eze, while rejoicing with you on your hard-fought victory, I humbly advise you to be magnanimous in victory, and especially to immediately extend hands of fellowship, the olive branch, to your opponents, with a view to getting them to work together with you for the advancement of Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community in particular, and Umulokpa town in general.

Dear sir, I think that in order to achieve all the success you desire in this enormous task of leading the good people of Ogbosu-Umulokpa as the President-General of their Town-Union, you need to make broadmindedness, all-inclusiveness and pragmatism your guiding codes. This is because your supporters alone can’t help you to succeed; like in all progress-minded governance, you need the support and cooperation of all. So, please work hard to carry all along all men and women of goodwill, towards success.

Further, dear Linus, sir, this victory is not your personal victory, but a victory for the entire Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community. While I congratulate all indigenes of Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community, and all men of goodwill who joined to make the election a success, and your victory a reality, I want you to know from Day One that your primary and only assignment as the President-General of Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community, is to work in the overall best interest of Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community, while cooperating with Umulokpa General Assembly (UPA) and all other progress-oriented groups and associations in Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community and in Umulokpa Town for the development of Ogbosu-Umulokpa and Umulokpa Town. You must resist any temptation to use your exalted office/position in promotion of sectional, parochial or clannish interests.

Finally, I enjoin other communities in Umulokpa to emulate the peaceful, mature and transparent manner Ogbosu-Umulokpa Community has organised and delivered its 2024 Town-Union elections.

Overall, it’s well with Ogbosu-Umulokpa, and with the entire Umulokpa and all of its people.

Respectfully,
Sylvester Udemezue (udems),
