Legal practitioner, Nnaebuka Nwaeze Esq., has extended warm felicitations to the leadership and members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Calabar Branch, on the occasion of its 2026 Law Week.

In a goodwill message, Nwaeze commended the Branch for selecting the theme, “Rule of Law: Safeguarding Democracy, Ensuring Accountability,” describing it as timely and instructive, particularly as the nation gradually approaches another electoral cycle.

He noted that issues of governance, responsibility, and accountability are once again taking centre stage in national discourse, stressing that the rule of law remains the critical framework through which power is exercised and accountability enforced.

According to him, the legal profession bears a unique responsibility in this regard, as lawyers serve not only as advocates but also as custodians of legal order and contributors to the development of a just society.

“For the legal profession, this responsibility is even more direct. The preservation of democracy and the demand for accountability must find consistent expression in our conduct, our counsel, and our collective voice as a Bar,” he stated.

Nwaeze expressed confidence that the calibre of speakers assembled for the Law Week would engage the theme with depth and clarity, adding that the deliberations in Calabar would contribute meaningfully to ongoing national conversations on governance and responsibility.

He also commended the leadership of the Branch, led by its Chairman, Enome Amatey Esq., as well as the Law Week Planning Committee chaired by Dr. Paul Ebiala, for organising what he described as a thoughtful and impactful programme.

Highlighting the importance of such initiatives, Nwaeze said they reinforce the relevance of the Bar to both its members and the wider society, while also underscoring the need for a structured, responsive, and accountable Secretariat to support the institutional role of the NBA.

He concluded by wishing the Branch a successful and impactful Law Week.
