Nigerian businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose has sparked controversy after criticizing senior government officials whom he described as “Senate leaders” for lining up at an airport to welcome Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a widely circulated video, Fayose shared footage showing Seyi Tinubu disembarking from a private aircraft and being received by a group of dignitaries waiting at the foot of the stairs. Fayose condemned the scene as an act of “sycophancy,” questioning why elected officials would accord such protocol to someone who holds no constitutional office.

“There is no position called ‘First Son of the Nation’ in our Constitution,” Fayose said emphatically in the video. “Why are these government functionaries filing out to greet him like this? This is pure sycophancy.”

The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows Fayose reacting strongly as he plays the clip of the airport reception. He argued that such displays divert attention from pressing national issues and undermine the dignity of public office.

Fayose, known for his outspoken criticism of the current administration on issues ranging from insecurity to economic policies, has repeatedly called out what he describes as nepotism and excessive deference to the president’s family.

The incident comes days after Seyi Tinubu was conferred with the chieftaincy title Okanlomo of Yorubaland by the Alaafin of Oyo, an event attended by several high-profile figures, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
