In a show of solidarity and support, the past secretaries of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Awka Branch have unanimously endorsed Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN, for the position of NBA President. The endorsement comes ahead of the upcoming NBA elections scheduled for July 20, 2024.

The past secretaries, spanning from 2009 to 2023, include UFO Nnaemeka (2009-2011), Basil Aguigwo (2011-2013), O.M. Madukaife (2013-2015), Nnamdi R. Anagor (2015-2017), P.I. Chukwudebelu (2017-2019), Tony Anazor (2019-2021), and Uchenna D. Obiora (2021-2023). They believe that Mazi Afam Osigwe possesses the qualities needed to lead a proactive, progressive, and all-inclusive Bar.

Mazi Afam Osigwe, affectionately known as “Mazi,” has been a longstanding ally of the Awka Bar, consistently providing support and understanding the Branch’s needs for over a decade. The past secretaries acknowledge his instrumental role in restoring peace to the Awka Branch during a period of crisis in 2012.

Despite his demanding responsibilities as the then-serving General Secretary of the NBA, Mazi personally visited Awka to meet with and counsel all the aggrieved parties, ultimately bringing about the peace that the Branch continues to enjoy to this day.

The past secretaries strongly believe that a vote for Mazi Afam Osigwe is a vote for a truly proactive Bar. They urge all members of the NBA to unite and cast their votes for Mazi Afam Osigwe on July 20, 2024, asserting that he is the best and brightest candidate for the position of NBA President.

The endorsement by the past secretaries of the NBA Awka Branch underscores Mazi Afam Osigwe’s dedication to the legal profession and his commitment to fostering unity and progress within the NBA.
