As part of the programmes and activities lined up by the TCCP for the 59th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar, delegates took to the street on a 10kmhealth work.

It is trite that Walking is a great way to improve or maintain your overall health there.

The starting point was Harbour Point Hotel, Victoria Island through Bonny Camp, Ozumba Mbadiwe Rd, Akin Adesola Rd and back to Harbour Point.

The walk started with aerobics and ended with a warm exercise session at Harbour Point. There was music and lots of fun.

7UP Bottling Company was on ground to give free T-shirts, drinks and water to all participants who came for the health walk.


The Chairman TCCP, Gbenga Oyebode MFR, thanked all the participants for turning up for the health walk, also the sponsor, 7UP bottling company for what their support.

He said walking is a popular form of physical activity and can be easily done by most people, that people report lack of time as one challenge that prevents them from walking or doing other kinds of physical activity.

He also added that people may struggle to meet the current guideline for regular aerobic physical activity as they cope with competing demands of work.

Another senior member of the bar, who is also the former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, said that some of the benefits of the health walk include: increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness, reduced risk of heart disease and stroke, improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes.

He also stated that because physical activity has numerous other health benefits – such as supporting positive mental health and healthy aging – It is one of the most important actions people can take to improve their overall health.”

Mrs. Ngozi Giwa Amu, the Lead Counsel of Seven-Up Bottling Company Plc which is the sponsors of the #2019NBAAGC Health Walk opined that SBC is always interested in promoting walking because it offers a powerful public health strategy that can always increase physical activity.

”The programme is a Call to Action, and calls on Nigerian Lawyers to be physically active and for the nation and also support walking and walkability for people of all ages and abilities,” she added.

Some of the participants shared their experience with TheNigeriaLawyer as we spoke with Mr. Debo, who said “the walk was for socialization, and general goodwill for humanity, adding that it was a wonderful experience.

Mrs. Okorocha, TCCP member said it was an awesome experience while Charles Ajiboye, Publicity Secretary NBA Ikeja, said “the walk was fun, though it rained, the rain made it very interesting, the spirit was high at the venue and collection of conference materials was seamless.

There will also be a football match between NBA Ikeja branch and NBA Warri branch today 24th August.

Tomorrow, 25th August 24, 2019 will feature a multi-denominational service at the Cathedral Church of Christ Marina, followed by a welcome cocktail dinner hosted by Honorable Justice Kazeem Aloba, Ag Chief Judge of Lagos State at the City Hall Marina. Then the formal opening of the Friendship Centre by the President of the NBA, Paul Usoro SAN.
