The Take-It-Back Movement (TIB), a prominent human rights and pro-democracy organization in Nigeria, has called for a solidarity gathering at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday to demand the immediate release of #EndBadGovernance protesters who are facing charges.

In a statement released on their X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, TIB announced that members will occupy the court premises starting at 7 AM to show support for the persecuted and illegally detained protesters. The group also extended an open invitation to the general public to join the gathering and stand in solidarity with the cause.

“Join us as we gather at the Abuja High Court tomorrow at 7 AM to show solidarity and demand the immediate release of persecuted and illegally detained #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters who are facing charges,” TIB wrote in their statement.

Among those set to be arraigned in court on Monday is Michael Adaramoye, also known as Michael Lenin, a prominent Nigerian activist who was arrested on August 5 by the Tinubu administration for his involvement in the recently concluded 10-day #EndBadGovernance protests. Adaramoye will be appearing in court alongside other activists on what TIB describes as “trumped-up charges.”

TIB confirmed Adaramoye’s court appearance on Saturday and called on Nigerians to show their support by attending the court sitting, which is scheduled to begin at 9 AM on Monday.

“Michael Adaramoye, who was arrested on August 5 by the Tinubu administration, has been arraigned in court alongside other activists,” TIB stated. “Let’s support him by attending the court sitting on Monday, 9AM.”

The #EndBadGovernance protests, which lasted for 10 days, were a series of demonstrations aimed at highlighting and calling for an end to various issues of poor governance, corruption, and human rights abuses in Nigeria. The protests gained significant traction on social media and saw participation from citizens across the country.
