The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a gunman identified as Oluchukwu Anyaoku following the circulation of a viral video in which he was seen issuing violent threats and vowing to destroy all police formations in Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.

According to a press statement issued on Wednesday, December 3, by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, operatives attached to the Obosi Police Division swung into action immediately after intercepting the video on December 2, 2025.

SP Ikenga stated that the suspect was swiftly traced, arrested, and taken into custody for interrogation, describing the move as a credible security response to the disturbing footage.

The police spokesperson also disclosed that a firearm and a cutlass were recovered from the suspect during the arrest, further strengthening the case against him.

He added that preliminary observations indicate the suspect may require professional medical evaluation, noting that appropriate procedures are being followed in line with operational guidelines.

“To this end, the case is being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for comprehensive investigation and detailed analysis of all information already obtained about the incident,” the PPRO said.

In an interview with this reporter, the Police Spokesman assured the public that further updates will be communicated as the investigation progresses, while emphasising the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace, law, and public safety across the state.

The Command also reiterated its warning against issuing threats or engaging in actions capable of undermining public order, stressing that such behaviour will attract decisive legal consequences.
