Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, on Friday told Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to stop pretending to be on the phone and listen to him.

He said this at the inauguration of the official quarters of the Rivers House of Assembly, on Friday.

In a playful manner, Gbajabiamila called on the governor to listen to him while he delivered his speech.

Gbajabiamila said despite not being in the same party with Wike, they are united in the desire to see a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria.

He also explained that he honored Wike’s invitation to show that political differences do not justify viciousness against others.

“I was in the United State when His Excellency called me just to follow up on our previous conversation about coming to do this commissioning. I accepted to do this because of who he is and what he is to me; I didn’t have to think hard to cut my vacation short and come here for this.

“My presence here today ladies and gentlemen is, I remember what His Excellency was talking about fly over (bridge); I was very impressed; flyover one , flyover two, flyover three and four and If I am not mistaken you stopped at flyover 12 and that is very impressive.

“But Your Excellency, if you come to Lagos, you will be counting flyover one up to over one thousand and that is a fact… Your Excellency you are pretending that you are on your phone, listen to me… You know that I enjoy this privilege as speaker and number four citizen. In a gathering like this, I get to speak last. And therefore, His Excellency can’t come back to reply me, that is the advantage I have . So listen to me and carefully.”
