Some unidentified youths were captured on video destroying a massive billboard featuring the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and one of his key allies, Chijioke Ihunwo, former Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The viral footage, which surfaced online on Saturday, shows four young men systematically tearing down the billboard, which overlooked a major roadway. Although the exact location could not be immediately confirmed, the video clearly shows the towering billboard being dismantled in broad daylight.

In the clip, one of the youths is heard instructing others, saying, “Even from the down, tear it from that side, it will come down. I will bring the new one.” Another voice hailed one of them with “Honourable,” as they exchanged pleasantries before continuing the destruction.

A female voice was also heard in the background as one of the youths climbed up the structure, vigorously tearing off the billboard material. Others assisted from the ground, pulling out what appeared to be thick paper from the billboard holder until the structure was stripped bare.

The incident comes amid heightened political tensions in Rivers State following the unconstitutional  appointment of Local Government administrators. It remains unclear whether the act was politically motivated or simply a case of vandalism. Meanwhile, some lawyers have suggested that the actions are meant to provoke Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his allies, possibly leading to the extension of the unconstitutional emergency ruling in Rivers.
