Registrations are ongoing for the 9th Annual Conference of the International Law Association (Nigerian Branch), with organisers urging participants to complete registration before the April 7, 2026 deadline for regular registration.

The conference, scheduled for April 13 to 15, 2026 in Abuja, is themed “Mitigating Economic and Financial Crime Risks in a Shifting Global Order: The Role of International Law.” It will bring together legal scholars, policymakers, regulators and practitioners to examine how international law can help anticipate, mitigate and manage risks associated with illicit financial flows, corruption and money laundering.

Early bird registration has closed, while the regular registration window remains open until April 7. Organisers disclosed that on-site registration will also be available at higher rates, encouraging interested participants to register early to secure their slots and discounted fees.

The conference will feature high-level speakers, including Fatou Bensouda, former Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court and current Gambian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom; Edward Harris, Director-General of the GIABA; Bolaji Owasonoye, former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission; and Mohamed M. Malick, United Nations Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria.

According to the organisers, the conference will provide a platform for robust discussions on strengthening legal and institutional frameworks to combat financial crimes and enhance cross-border cooperation in a rapidly evolving global order.

Participants including students, legal practitioners, academics, government officials and foreign attendees are invited to register via the conference portal at ilanigeria.org.ng/9th. Accepted abstract presenters will also benefit from discounted registration rates.

Student members, members, non-members and foreign participants have different fee structures, with a President’s Dinner option available for registered attendees. Organisers emphasised that early registration is key to securing participation before the April 7 deadline.
