Simon Guobadia, the estranged husband of Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams, has been deported to Nigeria following a four-month detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), DailyMail.com reports.

Guobadia, 61, was reportedly released from the Stewart Detention Center in Lumpkin, Georgia, and placed on a deportation flight to Nigeria a few days ago. His name has also been removed from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s system, confirming his removal.

A friend of Guobadia’s, Tai Savet, told Us Weekly that despite the ordeal, Simon was in “good spirits” and looking forward to a fresh start. Interestingly, Savet said Simon harbors no resentment toward U.S. immigration policies or President Donald Trump, adding that he would welcome a sit-down meeting with the U.S. leader.

Simon’s detention began in February 2025, with reports indicating that he had been held over longstanding immigration violations. According to federal records, Guobadia first entered the United States from Nigeria in 1982 but was declared deportable just three years later in 1985 after overstaying his visa. He was deported in 1992 following multiple fraud convictions and arrests, but later returned to the U.S. illegally.

His 2016 bid for U.S. naturalization was reportedly denied, and in 2024, the Atlanta Black Star revealed he had been repeatedly denied residency status.

The deportation coincides with a broader immigration enforcement campaign following a controversial executive order by former President Trump mandating increased deportations of undocumented immigrants.

Guobadia’s legal troubles have also paralleled a messy divorce from Porsha Williams, 43. The couple, who married in November 2022 after a whirlwind engagement in May 2021, had been locked in a contentious legal battle over the validity of their prenuptial agreement and other divorce-related claims.

Porsha filed for divorce just 15 months into the marriage, days after Simon celebrated “42 years living in America” in a now-controversial Instagram post. She later described the situation as “disheartening” and emphasized her focus on her family.

In a significant legal victory in September 2024, a judge upheld the couple’s prenuptial agreement, denied Simon’s emergency motions, and ordered him to pay Porsha’s legal fees. The court rejected Simon’s claims that Porsha misled him by returning to reality television, ruling that she had always been a public figure and that he married her with full knowledge of her career.

Porsha is now preparing to return to the Real Housewives of Atlanta for Season 16, having left the show after Season 13. She has received public support from fellow RHOA stars Kenya Moore, Phaedra Parks, and Cynthia Bailey.

Simon Guobadia, who first appeared on RHOA as the husband of Falynn Pina before beginning a relationship with Porsha, now faces an uncertain future in Nigeria as he adjusts to life outside the United States.
