A Niger State housewife Fatima Dzuma has allegedly killed her husband, Baba Aliyu, with a pestle while he slept in his house.

Sources disclosed that the woman, thereafter, singlehandedly dumped his lifeless body in a nearby bush.

When asked why she killed her husband, Dzuma said they had a misunderstanding during which she told him that she did not love him anymore, and for which reason, she claimed, he beat her up.

The incident, it was gathered, happened sometime between the Christmas and New Year holidays in Lafiyagi Dzwafu village in the Katcha Local Government Area of Niger State during an argument where she told the husband that she did not love him anymore.

Our correspondent further learnt that Dzuma, 27, married Aliyu, 25, as his second wife, and they had lived together for three years without having any child.

Sources said the absence of a child between the couple led to their several fights as they were said to have lived in constant misunderstanding.

Our reliable sources said the couple even had a fight the night before Aliyu was killed while he slept.

Bubble burst when some family members of Aliyu came looking for their brother but were told by Dzuma that she had not seen him.

However, she later confessed to the crime three days after she killed him and was thoroughly quizzed by police investigators.

The suspected killer who confessed to the crime recounted to police investigators how she killed her husband by tying him with a rope and ensuring that Baba did not struggle while he slept.

“When he came back, he went to bed. I used a rope to tie his neck, and he could not struggle. I hit him with a pestle three times, twice on his head and once on his hand. I took advantage of his sleeping because he slept very deeply.

“After I killed him, I wrapped him up inside a mat, threw him over the fence and dragged him to the bush in the backyard before coming back to wash the blood and excreta that came out of his body when I killed him,” Dzuma said.

The Niger State Police command spokesman, Wasiu Abiodun, when contacted on Thursday, said that the body of Baba Aliyu was found in a bush close to his house, adding that the suspect was currently in police custody.

“She confessed that she used a pestle to hit her husband when he was asleep, and she later tied the deceased with clothes and rope and rolled the corpse to a nearby bush with a mat.

“The corpse was taken to general hospital Bida for post-mortem while the suspect was taken into custody. She will soon be transferred to SCID Minna for further investigation and prosecution,” Abiodun said.
