After four years of hide and seek, the police from Zone 2, Onikan Lagos, have arrested a lawyer, Moses John Jackson, who jumped bail since 2018.

His arrest, six days ago, followed the execution of a bench warrant issued against him by Chief Magistrate P.A. Ojo of a Surulere Magistrates Court on March 22.

It was gathered that detectives lured the defendant to Zone 2 on the pretext of handling another matter but detained him and took him to Kirikiri Correctional custody on arrival.

Jackson will appear before Chief Magistrate P.A. Ojo of Surulere Chief Magistrates court today on a two-count charge of obtaining by false pretences and stealing from an 80-year-old journalist, Segun Adenuga.

The defendant, first arraigned before the court by the SCID on November 23, 2018, pled not guilty and was granted bail on self-recognition but absconded thereafter.

Jackson was also absent in court on September 20, 2021 when the matter came up for hearing, following which Chief Magistrate Ojo issued the first bench warrant for his arrest.

On March 22, when the defendant failed to appear in court, Chief Magistrate Ojo ordered the police to arrest him.

Jackson is now in custody and is expected to be produce him in court tomorrow.

The complainant is represented by Miss Temidayo Adebayo.
