The Anambra State Police Command has arraigned a group of senior citizens, numbering six (6) on charges bordering on murder and conspiracy.

The defendants, Nwokolo Dennis [60], Izuchukwu Ibe [72], Clifford Enendu [49], Anthony Ibeghunam [62], Uchenna Ibeh [43], Ibe Samuel [47]; we’re on the 5th of February, 2021 arraigned before an Idemili-South magistrate court sitting at Oba, in Anambra on two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and the unlawful killing of one Mr Chinedu Nwabuagha.

According to the charged sheet as drafted by the Police official, A.A.Nwano, sighted by TheNigeriaLawyers, the charges against the defendants reads thus:

Count 1: That you, Nwokolo Dennis ‘m’, Izuchukwu Ibe ‘m’, Clifford Enendu ‘m’, Anthony Ibeghunam ‘m’, Uchenna Ibeh ‘m’, Ibe Samuel ‘m’ and others now at large on the 2nd day of November 2020 at the Umuokpa Umuogali village Oba within the jurisdiction of Idemili-South magisterial district did conspire to commit felony to wit: murder and you thereby committed an offence punishable under sections 494 of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Vol. II Revised law of Anambra State 1991.

Count II: That you, Nwokolo Dennis ‘m’, Izuchukwu Ibe ‘m’, Clifford Enendu ‘m’, Anthony Ibeghunam ‘m’, Uchenna Ibeh ‘m’, Ibe Samuel ‘m’, and others now at large on the same date place and within the aforementioned magisterial district did unlawfully kill one Chinedu Nwabuagha ‘m’ by shooting him with gun and using axe, jack knives, matchets, iron hammers, and bottles to stab him all over his body which caused death and thereby committed an offence punishable under section 274(1) of the Criminal Code Cap 36 Vol. II Revised law of Anambra State 1991.

The proceeding has however been adjourned to the 8th of February, 2021 for binding over witnesses, as well as necessary procedural requirements.
