A Jos High Court in Plateau State has affirmed Joshua Ubandoma Laven of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the authentic Chairman of Langtang North Local Government Area (LGA).

Justice Ishaku Kunda dismissed an appeal filed by his challenger, Zulfa Bitrus Rimven of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the ground that the suit was without merit.

Rimven, a lawyer, had approached the court seeking an interpretation of the November 2, 2021 judgment entered in Laven’s favour.

But the judge held that a separate election conducted by the Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) for the Langtang North LGA council chair post, which Rimven won, was unnecessary, because, among others, the seat was never vacant.

He ordered Rimven to vacate the office with immediate effect for Laven.
