In a tragic incident early Saturday morning, a section of a two-storey residential building collapsed in Kubwa, Abuja, leaving an unknown number of occupants trapped in the debris.

The structure, located adjacent to the well-known Cupid Hotel on Cupid Road (also known as Sultan Dasuki Way), has a complex history. Originally established as Al-Hilal Hotel, it later served as a hospital before being converted into residential apartments.

Emergency services were alerted to the scene and rescue operations are currently underway. The exact number of individuals trapped and the extent of injuries remain unclear at this time.

Local authorities are urging residents to stay clear of the area to allow rescue teams unobstructed access. The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, and investigations will likely follow once rescue efforts are complete.
