The Delta High Court at different divisions, sentenced three (3) sexual offenders to 25,  7 and 6 years imprisonments respectively.

According to the Government of Delta State Sexual Offender and Service Provider Register Data Collection Form for reported cases of SGBV, made available to TheNigerialawyer, (TNL), the offenders namely Yunusa Lukuman (age 46), Ossai Mishark (33) and Pastor Frank Osedhi (age 46) were arraigned by the Sexual Offences, Domestic violence and Child’s Rights Unit of the Delta State Ministry of Justice before the High Courts on the charge of defilement and rape respectively.

In High Court 4, Asaba, Yunusa Lukuman was Sentenced to 25 years imprisonment by Hon. Justice Ngozi Flora Azinge for the offence of defilement.

Also in the Kwale High Court 2, Ossai mishark was sentenced to 7 years imprisonment with hard labour for the offence of rape, by Hon. Justice O. F. Enenmo . Pastor Frank Osedhi was sentenced to 6 years imprisonment with hard labour by Hon. Justice O. F. Enenmo of the same Court 2, Kwale for the offence of rape.

The Delta State Sexual Offences, Domestic Violence and Child’s Rights Unit of the Ministry of Justice secured the Judgment against the trio.

Speaking on the conviction,  Director of the Sexual Offences, Domestic violence and Child’s Rights Unit, Mrs Patricia Akamagwuna said, “Let it be known that defilement, rape and other sex related offences are heavily frowned upon and will never be tolerated in Delta State.

“Delta State has a Sex Offenders Register and anyone caught will definitely be prosecuted and where convicted will have his name and photograph published.

“Protect our children and females from these predators. Stop protecting sex offenders, she concluded.
