The Partners, Associates and Staff of Obra Legal have celebrated the Founding/Principal Partner of the firm, Iyom A.J. Offiah, SAN, FCARB on the auspicious occasion of her 70th birthday.

In a message of felicitation made available to TheNigeriaLawyer by the Managing Partner of the firm, Ikechukwu Onuoma Esq, described the celebrant as a Legal Amazon and an amiable role model for young and even senior lawyers.

Chief (Mrs.) A. J. Offiah, SAN is a legal luminary of  over 45 years experience in legal practice. She is  the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria from the south-east and a member of the body of benchers, Chief Mrs. Offiah  has demonstrated  remarkable degree of hard work, honesty and integrity in the legal profession.

She began her career in 1979 during her service year in Ondo state where she worked with the Ondo State Ministry of Justice. After her service, she returned to Enugu to set up her private practice. She has consistently served Nigeria in various ways and under various appointments and positions. She was a member of the Anambra State Law Reporting Committee and Chairman of the Anambra State Local Government Election Tribunal, Onitsha Zone.

In 1994 she became the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice Enugu State under the Military regime. In 1999 She was made Chairman of the State Local Government Election Tribunal Enugu Zone.

In the year 2007 to 2015, Chief Mrs. Offiah SAN facilitated the Enugu State Justice Reform team, aimed at delivering transparent, affordable and Independent Justice System in the state. She further advocated the electronification of judicial adjudication, and building of better chambers in the state to fast track judicial administration. In July 2014, Chief Mrs. Offiah commissioned the Witness Support Unit at the Enugu High Court.
Chief Mrs. Offiah is happily married with Children.
