Nigerian media personality Chinedu Ani Emmanuel, popularly known as Nedu Wazobia, has served a legal notice to social media critic Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), over defamatory remarks he allegedly made regarding a scholarship fund.

The pre-action notice, dated February 24, 2025, was issued by Nedu’s legal representatives, who claim that VDM posted a 12-minute video on February 19, 2025, making false and damaging statements about their client and Tokindrumz Picture and Media Ltd.

In the video, which was uploaded to VDM’s YouTube and Instagram pages, he accused Nedu of diverting funds meant for Nigerian students. The legal team described the content as full of “incessant lies,” and pointed out that VDM attempted to “circumvent the law” by using the word “fraud” spelled as “fr@vd.”

The letter further emphasized that the case surrounding the Metropolitan School of Business and Management UK (MSBM), referenced by VDM, had been previously investigated by the relevant authorities, who found insufficient evidence to pursue the matter.

Nedu’s legal team also clarified that the media personality was never paid for his involvement in the charity event related to the scholarship fund, nor did he organize the event. They also stressed that Nedu is not the owner of Tokindrumz, but rather a talent under the brand. Additionally, VDM’s claim that Nedu used Timaya and Kcee Limpopo to “institute the fraud” was also strongly contested in the letter.

As part of their demand, Nedu’s legal team called for the following actions:

  1. A retraction of all videos involving Nedu on VDM’s social media platforms within 24 hours of receiving the notice.
  2. A public apology to be published on all of VDM’s platforms.
  3. Payment of ₦500 million in damages for the harm caused to Nedu’s reputation.

Failure to comply with these demands within the stipulated time frame will result in further legal action, the letter concluded.
