Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) on Saturday said the boiling temperature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has calmed down after the meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC) and the dissolution of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

Speaking with Daily Independent, he said the members of the party have agreed to put the interests of the APC ahead of their personal gains.

Even though Sagay, who is a member of the APC had kicked against the meeting saying Victor Giadom, the recognised Acting National Chairman has no powers to call for a NEC meeting, he said the outcome of the meeting has greatly improved the atmosphere in the party.

“If you describe the crisis in APC as temperature rising, if it was 80 degree before, now its about 40 degrees. In other words, the temperature has calmed down”.

“People are now introspective and are now interested in the party surviving than making their own personal gains. So, the recent action has improved the atmosphere generally”.

On the fate of Adams Oshiomhole, the former National chairman of the party, Sagay advised him not to seek reelection but look for other roles to play in the party.

“He can’t come back to his position. The NWC which he headed has been dissolved. So, they are doing a new election in six months. So, he is out. In fact, what they did was that they truncated his tenure by two years. He is eligible to run again but nobody will advise him to do such a thing”.
