The Young Lawyers Forum of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA-YLF) has issued a statement on the recent development regarding the NBA COVID-19 palliative fund for Young Lawyers.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

Furthermore, YLF reminded Young Lawyers of the guidelines they’re to take to ensure the fund reaches them.

In addition, it has issued support lines to be reached out to for assistance.

The statement reads:

RE: DISBURSEMENT OF COVID-19 PALLIATIVES TO YOUNG LAWYERS

The Governing Council of the Young Lawyers Forum (“YLF”) of the Nigerian Bar Association (“NBA”) appreciates the NBA President, Mr. Paul Usoro, SAN and the NBA Welfare Committee (the “Committee”) under the distinguished leadership of Dr. Olawale Babalakin, SAN for initiating the process to disburse the sum of N101,793,495.00 as Covid-19 palliatives to 10,126 eligible Young Lawyers.

The YLF equally appreciates all donors for their generosity and goodwill.

Further to the recommendations of the Committee, the eligible Young Lawyers are lawyers called to the Nigerian Bar in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.

We urge all eligible Young Lawyers to visit the NBA website to verify their names on the List of Eligible Beneficiaries (the “List”) by visiting the link: https://nigerianbar.org.ng/nba-covid-19-palliative-list-0.

Kindly note that each eligible beneficiary is required to complete the relevant Form available at https://forms.gle/Rqbcbi1UwCW6KtiP8 by or before 11:59pm on Monday, August 10, 2020 to ensure payment of the sum due to each eligible Young Lawyer.

For the avoidance of doubt, please note that payment cannot be processed without the completion of the Form.

All eligible Young Lawyers who do not find their names on the list are advised to similarly complete the Form and to fill in the number ‘0000’ in response to the request for “Your serial number on the NBA published list”.

In addition, please send Full Name, Enrollment Number and evidence of payment of Bar Practice Fees as at 31 March 2020 to covid-19welfare@nigerianbar.org.ng with the subject: OMISSION OF NAME FROM THE NBA COVID-19 PALLIATIVE LIST.
