The much-anticipated Nigerian Bar Association – Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) 2023 Annual Conference has commenced in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, with an exciting lineup of events and discussions centered around the theme “Legal Practice Without Borders.”

In his welcoming speech, Chief Paul Harris Ogbole, SAN, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), expressed his delight in hosting legal professionals and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds for this year’s conference. He extended heartfelt gratitude to the Chief Host of the event, Y.C. Maikyau, OON, SAN, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, for providing unwavering support to ensure the success of the conference.

The primary objective of this year’s conference is to explore the dynamic landscape of legal practice in Nigeria in the context of an increasingly globalized and internationalized environment. With a focus on operating within globally accepted ethical boundaries, the conference aims to analyze the future of legal services, both in Nigeria and beyond, identifying potential opportunities and challenges while proposing practical solutions.

To achieve these goals, the conference will feature in-depth discussions on several engaging topics, including Dispute Resolution in Investment matters, Organ Donation and Transplantation under Nigerian law, Migration and Immigration issues, Tyranny and Dictatorship of Election Petition, and the Transformation of Legal Practice in Nigeria.
With a lineup of eminent panelists, including distinguished jurists, legal practitioners, subject matter experts, academia, high-level government functionaries, and corporate executives, participants can look forward to a comprehensive and stimulating examination of these subjects.

The conference also introduces the “Young Litigators Debate,” offering younger colleagues the chance to showcase their knowledge on a selected topic, with attractive cash prizes and rewards awaiting the winners.

Beyond the enriching discussions, the conference promises to provide ample networking opportunities, allowing legal professionals to connect, share experiences, and forge meaningful relationships.

The Conference Dinner, to be held at the Golden Heart Place by Unique World Garden in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, is anticipated to be a memorable event, featuring an array of entertainers to keep the attendees engaged and entertained.

Chief Ogbole expressed his appreciation to Chief Ferdinand Orbih, SAN, the Section Chair, and the Council Members, including Tonye Krukrubo, SAN, the Alternate Chair, along with the entire Conference Planning Committee, whose tireless efforts ensured the conference’s success. He also extended gratitude to all sponsors and heads of Courts, acknowledging their vital support.

As the NBA-SLP Conference 2023 unfolds, participants are encouraged to seize every opportunity to learn, network, and unwind, making this a memorable and productive event.
