Following his previous statement on June 14, 2023, President Maikyau has now written letters to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), urging them to initiate an immediate investigation and prosecution of Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa.

In view of the admissions and confessions made by Senator Bulkachuwa during his farewell statements, the need for an inquiry and prosecution has been raised.

He said, “Further to my Statement of 14 June 2023, I wish to inform you that I have, today, written letters to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Chairman, Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), requesting for the immediate investigation and prosecution of Senator Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa for the admissions/confessions he made in his valedictory remarks.

Please note that the said valedictory session of the 9th Senate at which Senator Bulkachuwa volunteered his confessional statement was held on Saturday, 10 June 2023 and not on Monday, 12 June as erroneously stated in my first statement.”

President Maikyau emphasized the importance of standing against anarchy, unfairness, and inequity, and states that lawyers play a crucial role in upholding the rule of law. He highlights the responsibility to pass on these values to the next generation, who will face the challenge of safeguarding the rule of law in the current complex societal context.

As the situation unfolds, the NBA President assures colleagues and stakeholders that he will keep them informed about any further developments in the matter. He expresses gratitude for the support received thus far in the ongoing fight for the rule of law, integrity, and independence of the judiciary in Nigeria.
