We commiserate with the NBA President, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Zulu Gambari, OFR and the family of the deceased on the painful loss of this illustrious citizen of Nigeria. Late Professor Rauf Mustapha enjoyed a warm relationship with the NBA, which culminated in his being the lead international resource person during the last NBA’s Annual General Conference, held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The late University Don left indelible marks in the Academia, especially at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria and Oxford University, London where he was a Senior Lecturer until his death. Professor Abdul Raufu was born in Aba, now capital of Abia State, on the 24th day of July, 1954 and attended Primary School in Abia and Kano States. He proceeded to Federal Government College, Sokoto, where he met the NBA President as a schoolmate for his secondary education in 1970. He continued his quest for Education at the Federal Government College, Ilorin for his Higher School Certificate (sixth form) and passed his Higher School Examinations (HSC) in flying colours. The late scholar had his tertiary education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he studied Political Science and graduated in 1977. He later served Nigeria through the NYSC scheme in Kano State. According to family sources, the body of the Late Professor Abdul Raufu Mustapha will arrive Nigeria tomorrow and will be received by His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, at the Emir’s palace in Ilorin. The Fidau prayers will be led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin. The body will thereafter be taken to his family house, 26, Oke-Apomu Street, Near Alore Primary School, Ilorin, Kwara State for internment.
