*Hints Possibility of Protest By All Lawyers In Anambra If Police Commissioner Fails To Respond
*Says Abductors Demanding 15 million Naira Ransom

The Secretary, NBA Nnewi Branch, C.S Agbom, Esq has given the general public an update as regards the unfortunate abduction of Anambra based Lawyer, J.N Obi Esq who is of the NBA Ihiala Branch.

In a statement sighted  titled “RE: UPDATE ON THE WORRISOME ABDUCTION OF OUR COLLEAGUE J. N. OBI, ESQ., OF NBA IHIALA BRANCH”, Agbom recalled that it had been 3 weeks now since he alongside I.C Nsofor, the Chairman of the NBA Ihiala Branch had reported the abduction of J.N Obi, who was on Saturday 30/07/22 kidnapped in front of his office opposite MTN Mast, off Umunnamehi road, Ihiala by four unidentified gunmen in their blue pickup van. According to Agbom, Obi’s abductors thereafter on 31/07/22 demanded for N15,000,000 ransom.

He stated that today made it 16 days Obi had been abducted, and he gave an update on the situation thus: “Just a few minutes ago, all the Chairmen of NBA in Anambra State had a Conference Call where the Chairman Ihiala Branch reported that today is exactly 16 days that our dear colleague has been in the Abductors/Kidnappers hand and that the Kidnappers are bent on collecting the fifteen million naira ransom despite the payment of almost six million naira so far paid which money was raised from members of the Ihiala Branch and from family and friends of our colleague.”

Remarking on the efforts of the Police Force towards the incident, Agbom continued thus: “The Chairman of all Chairmen Mr. Ken Nwanna also reported that his Branch Secretary Uchenna Obiora met with the PPRO of the Nigerian Police, Anambra State Command to demand for the Commissioner of Police Anambra State to give urgent attention to our letter regarding the unfortunate incident which letter is long over due now and yet to be attended to till date. That the PPRO then called the Commissioner of Police who scheduled a meeting with the PPRO on the issue tomorrow morning.”

He went on to state that hinged on the above reason, the leadership of the NBA branches intended to allow the Commissioner to accordingly do the needful tomorrow but that if there is no positive response from him, then the various Chairmen of the 8 branches in Anambra State would reconvene and decide on what next to do including whether or not to embark on the earlier proposed protest by all lawyers in Anambra State regarding the ugly development.

He urged all his colleagues to remember J.N Obi and to be security conscious.
