The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has swiftly responded to reports that Chief Magistrate Oluwadare T.O. Esq. of Ekiti State issued a highly controversial order barring lawyers from applying to lift a freezing order and even instructing their arrest. The NBA NEC views this as a serious breach of legal ethics and due process.

In an emergency meeting, the NEC resolved to take immediate and decisive action:

1. All lawyers are to boycott Magistrate Oluwadare T.O. Esq.’s court with immediate effect.

2. The NBA will file a formal petition against the Magistrate, urging the Chief Judge of Ekiti State to relieve him of all judicial duties.

3. The Ekiti State Judicial Service Commission will be petitioned to investigate the Magistrate’s conduct and take appropriate disciplinary measures.

4. If it is established that the applicant in the case is a lawyer, the NBA will petition relevant authorities to initiate disciplinary proceedings against them as well.

5. The NBA will also address the increasing number of fake and outrageous court orders originating from Nassarawa and Kogi States by writing to their respective Chief Judges.

In a statement, the NBA reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to defending the rule of law and safeguarding the independence of the legal profession. The association emphasized that it will not tolerate any attempts to intimidate lawyers or undermine due process.
