The National Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) has written to all Chairmen of the Human Rights Committee and Vice-Chairmen of the NBA the Human in all states of the Federation, requesting them to undertake a frequent visit to the Police Stations due to the ongoing JUSUN strike which has crippled legal services across the country.

In a letter dated 26th April, 2021 signed by Bernard Onigah the National Secretary of the NBA Human Rights Committee and sighted by THENIGERIALAWYER, it requested all Chairmen of Human Rights Committee and Vice chairmen of the Branches to undertake frequent visits to police stations within the Jurisdiction of their branches, to intervene and ensure that suspects involved in minor offences and petty crimes are granted bail on liberal terms, pending the calling-off of the strike action.

To work closely with Divisional Police Officers and Police Counsel, to ensure the Protection of the Fundamental Human Rights of Nigerians and also provide advice to the Police when necessary and needed.

It further requested that the exercise is to continue throughout the duration of the strike action.
