NBA Lagos Poll #2021: Ikechukwu Uwanna, Submits Nomination Form For The Office Of Chairman 

Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna, a Partner with Tsedaqah Attorneys on Tuesday completed and submitted his nomination form to contest for the Office of the Chairman of the Lagos Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) during the Branch election scheduled for 28 June 2021. 

Mr. Uwanna confirmed this development to TheNigerialawyer’s correspondent this afternoon after submitting his form.

It would be recalled that on Thursday 6 May 2021, the NBA Lagos Branch Electoral Committee led by Mr Olawale Akoni, SAN published the guidelines for the 2021 NBA Lagos Branch Elections and advised members of the Branch interested in contesting for any elective office of the Branch that the nomination forms were available for sale.

Following the release of the guidelines, Mr. Uwanna, who is a past Secretary of the NBA Lagos Branch purchased and duly completed the form which he has now submitted, thereby formally signifying that he has thrown his hat in the ring by making himself available to serve the Branch in that additional capacity.
 
When asked about his plans and manifesto for the Branch, Mr. Ikechukwu Uwanna noted that it would be premature for him to release a manifesto in order not to breach any provisions of the election guidelines.

He however explained that his decision to contest for this significant office is a culmination of several months of consultations, as well as the need to consolidate on the giant strides of recent administrations which he has been a critical part of, and to contribute his quota in shaping the future together.

In accordance with the election’s guidelines, all aspirants to the various offices in the Branch are expected to submit their nomination forms and accompanying documents to the Electoral Committee no later than 3pm on Thursday 13 May 2021.
