The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Garki Branch in Abuja, also known as Liberty Bar, has put out a call for legal articles and papers to be published in its upcoming peer-reviewed journal.

In guidelines released on Monday, the branch invited submissions covering diverse areas of law and legal practice for the 2024 edition of the Liberty Bar Journal.

Contributions like case reviews, statute reviews, and book reviews relevant to the legal field were also welcomed. The articles should not exceed 6,000 words while reviews can be up to 4,000 words long.

Authors were directed to submit original pieces not published elsewhere. The deadline for sending entries is December 31, 2023. Contributors were asked to format their work using specified styles.

The notice highlighted that young lawyers whose articles are selected will receive rewards. Published authors are also required to provide their credentials and contact details.

The solicited papers will undergo editorial review before publication next year. This is the second edition of the NBA Garki Branch legal journal aimed at promoting research and discourse.

Guidelines for Authors:

  1. Originality is key, and submissions must comply with copyright laws.
  2. Articles should be exclusively submitted for publication in Liberty Bar Journal.
  3. Length: Articles should not exceed 6,000 words; case notes, statute reviews, and book reviews should not exceed 4,000 words.
  4. Include an abstract of no more than 250 words.
  5. Include contributor names, titles, qualifications, and email addresses as footnote references on the first page.
  6. Format: Microsoft Word, Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing (font size 12 in the body, font size 10 in footnotes).
  7. Use either the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) Uniform Citation Guide (www.naltng.org) or the Oxford Standard Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) (www.law.ox.ac.uk/authors).
  8. Cross-check and confirm the accuracy of articles, indicating sources of data or views referred to.
  9. Bibliographic details should precede footnotes, including the author’s qualifications and current employment.
  10. The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2023.
  11. Young Lawyers with publishable articles will be rewarded.
