The eagerly anticipated 63rd edition of the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA AGC) is set to take place from August 25 to September 1, 2023 at the M.K.O Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

The event was officially announced during a press conference in Abuja on Monday, May 15, 2023, where the conference theme was unveiled and the registration portal was launched.

During the press conference, President of the NBA, Mr. Y.C Maikyau OON, SAN, introduced the members of the planning committee, attendees, and the IT Consultant for the 2023 conference. He subsequently inaugurated the registration portal, urging members to commence their registration process through the website www.nbaconference.com.

However, since the commencement of the registration process, some delegates have reported experiencing technical difficulties, which have impeded their progress. These concerns have been brought to the attention of the 2023 Conference Planning Committee, who are diligently addressing the issues and providing assurances that they will be resolved promptly.

Alternate Chairperson of the AGCPC, Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, FCIArb, acknowledged the challenges faced by delegates and assured them that the committee is actively working on resolving the technical hitches. She mentioned that some of the complaints stemmed from delegates inputting information that differed from what was already saved on the database.

It is worth recalling that during the unveiling of the conference theme, the IT Consultant, Mrs. Nkiru Okeke, instructed delegates to enter their Supreme Court enrollment number on the website.

She further explained that individuals who registered in 2021 or 2022 had their data saved on the database, enabling a seamless registration process. Delegates were required to log in using the same email they used in previous years, make necessary edits, upload their photographs, and proceed with payment. Non-lawyers were instructed to enter their names, as they did not have pre-saved data on the database.

Badejo-Okunsanya reiterated some of the points highlighted by the IT Consultant and requested patience from delegates. She acknowledged that technical issues are bound to arise during such processes and emphasized the importance of correctly capitalizing delegate names, as even a single missing or incorrectly capitalized letter could render the registration invalid. The committee is working diligently to address these concerns and is also planning to provide a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) section to assist delegates with the registration process.

In conclusion, lawyers are encouraged to remain patient and assured that the 2023 Conference Planning Committee is working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for all delegates. The NBA AGC promises to be an exceptional event, bringing together legal professionals from across the country to engage in insightful discussions and exchange ideas on critical legal matters.
