The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Aba Branch has refuted claims that controversial social media figure, Miss Ifunanya Excel Grant known as the “baddest lawyer”, is a member of their branch.

In a statement, NBA Aba Branch Chairman Innocent O. Egwu Esq. and Secretary Mazi K.C. Okoro said the branch categorically confirms Ifunanya Excel Grant is not their member and is unknown to them.

This comes after reports emerged ascribing Ifunanya’s NBA membership to Aba Branch while she faces disciplinary charges for inappropriate social media conduct like posting unclad images.

While supporting the NBA’s efforts to uphold ethics, the Aba officers said wrongful ascription of Ifunanya’s membership to their branch is unacceptable and should be corrected. They noted this false attribution could wrongly portray the branch in bad light.

The officers requested the national NBA ensure factual diligence going forward so innocent members avoid being associated with ongoing disciplinary cases. They reiterated their branch’s categoric stance dissociating themselves from the controversial social media lawyer.

The Aba Branch says they do not believe the false membership ascription was an intentional attempt to malign them. They have formally communicated the need to set records straight regarding Ifunanya’s wrongfully ascribed membership status.
