The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) has re-elected Mfon Ekong Usoro as its President for another two-year tenure.

CILT made this known in a press statement by the Institute’s Publicity Committee Chairman, Mr Bashir Ambi-Mohammed.
According to the statement, the election was conducted via a virtual platform for CILT members across the country and the poll was done in a free and fair atmosphere.
The newly elected executives are National President, Mrs Mfon Ekong Usoro; Deputy National President, DrAminu Yusuf Musa; Vice President North, Billy Edwin Filibus; Vice President East, Borlo Peter Barku; Vice President West, Usoro Samuel Udo; Aviation Mode Representative, Queen Ajayi.
Others are: Logistics Mode Representative, Ngozi Okoro Blessing; Maritime Mode Representative, Salim Bello; Pipeline Mode Representative, Olawoye Mobolaji; Road Mode Representative, Sani Mathew Ibrahim; Railway Mode Representative, Dauda Akinola Olabayo; and the Female Representative, Juliana Obiageli Saka.
In her appreciation remarks, Usoro stressed the importance of putting aside the stress and ill feelings associated with electioneering by the time Institute meets at the AGM as it will be a meeting among friends, not foes or the opposition.
She assured that the electoral process will continue to be fine-tuned to incorporate webinar manifesto evenings, scrutinise and verify achievements of officers who seek re-election, among others.
“I urge the outgoing and incoming officials to commence the handover and familiarisation journey forthwith so that we hit the ground running after inauguration.”
“For the membership, let us congratulate ourselves for embracing change, for cooperating towards its success and not attempting to sabotage the process.
“A big shout out to the immediate past president of CILT, Mallam Jibril for introducing online voting. Though it was a hybrid (manual + electronic voting) in 2021, it laid a foundation, which we used to defeat retrogressive arguments against the 100 percent electronic voting adopted this year.
“With this move, the transformed CILT has aligned with the modern processes of successful professional associations. We collectively share in the significant milestone attained,” she said.
